Does your survivor leave empowered—or retraumatized?

This is the true measure of an effective intake process.

My speciality is providing advanced technical assistance training to VWAs, civil attorneys, prosecutors, law enforcement, and crisis responders to upgrade their current intake process to the 4Rs Intake.

The 4Rs Intake:

INCREASE–> Rapid Rapport

DECREASE–> Rushing and Retraumatization

Using the unique 4Rs Intake process, you’ll learn/master how to:

  • Build genuine rapid rapport with a stranger who is a survivor
  • Gather the sensitive details that are essential for incident reports without rushing
  • Increase your survivors empowerment with a survivor-led intake
  • Learn the most up-to-date trauma-informed skills

The 4Rs Intake Process, is designed to build Rapid Rapport without Rushing or Retraumatizing survivors.

Gathering invasive, detailed information from a stranger is essential after a DV or SA incident. But under time pressure, intakes often feel rushed and impersonal, stifling rapport building. Without enough trust, survivors can inadvertently feel discombobulated: dismissed, pressured, and powerless—making it harder to collect vital documentation and increasing the risk of retraumatization.
